Last week’s senior night was a fun and exciting experience but most were surprised how the game ended.

“Coming into the game tonight, I was kind of expecting them to lose. So it was exciting when we won,” said senior Molly Wheat.

Junior Cassidy Stevens knew the Lions were going to win from the beginning.

“I knew we were going win, because we have some serious talent and heart on this team,” she said.Screen Shot 2013-01-11 at 9.24.31 AM

Senior Malik Freeman said  it has been tough to beat West Memphis for years.

“The team was kind of low, but we pulled it out in the end,” said senior Malik Freeman.

Niederbrach hoped the team would to win from the beginning.

“They have beat the crap out of us for many years and it is finally time for us to beat them,” said Niederbrach. “West Memphis had a few good plays, but we made bigger plays than they did.”

The close game provided edge-of-the-seat excitement for everyone who attended. Freeman said some plays will not be easily forgotten.

“It was pretty intense and close almost the entire game, 2-3 point difference,” said Freeman. “I was really excited pretty much the entire game because you could never tell what was going to happen next.”

Interceptions made the difference during the game according to Stevens.

“There was some good moments, good little interceptions and we had some beautiful touchdowns, ” Stevens said. “Antwan threw some beautiful passes. It was just a beautiful game.”

Knowing that this is the last regular scheduled game until the play-offs, hit a lot of the seniors hard, but not everyone.

“I kind of miss the high school atmosphere, but I will be going of to college and expectations are probably really high for me right now,” said Freeman.

Wheat said  it was a bittersweet time.

“It was fun to have my last time to hang out with everybody and dance and everything,” Wheat added. “It’s really sad now, because I just realized that this is the last time that it’s going to happen.”

On the other hand juniors got to look forward to senior year.

“It feels good. I’m excited to be a senior. I like being a junior, we have our year and it is coming up,” said Stevens.

This win also gave the Lions a place in the playoffs so the seniors will continue play for at least one more game.

“Technically, this isn’t our last home game because were going to get to host the play-off game, but beating West Memphis here on senior night, yeah Buddy,” said Neiderbrach.
