Elliot Foundation raises funds for suicide prevention

“It’s an opportunity for us to share our mission with the community,” said executive director Alana Pinchback.

Out of all of the profits made by Chili’s that night, 10 percent went to the Robert E. Elliot Foundation for suicide prevention.

“Chili’s was very generous in hosting this night for us,” said Pinchback.

In order to ensure the participation of the community, they launched a huge social media campaign.

“Two years ago, we got into social media marketing. It was an area that we haven’t been in, in the past,” said Pinchback.

Pinchback said the best place to find out where everything is going on in the Elliot Foundation is on Facebook or Twitter.

“Everyone pretty much lives on Facebook or Twitter these days,” she said. “So, we have a Dr. Robert E. Elliot Foundation Facebook page and a Twitter account.”

One contributor, Matt Cleveland, thought it was an excellent way to raise money.

“Non-profits are always looking for ways to make more money and serve more people,” he said. “Doing things like Chili’s Giving Back, it’s just an easy way for people to give money doing something that they normally do on an everyday basis.”

The Robert E. Elliot foundation is not the only organization that can participate in an event like this.

“All they have to do is let us know their information. All we do is put it on a flyer, and give them out. Whenever people bring them in, Chili’s gives the 10% to that ticket price,” said Chili’s manager, Megan Schoeppe. “It’s really easy.”

Overall, they had a great turnout and the night was a success.
