Moms share breakfast with elementary students

“Muffins for Moms is an opportunity for the students and the parents to have breakfast together. It’s an opportunity to get the parents in the school, let them see what the classrooms look like, and visit with the teachers,” said teacher Lyndsay Wilson. “Kids always think it’s really cool for their parents to hang out in their classroom and meet their teacher and, this year, we actually have our book fair open; it’s also an opportunity for parents to come and be with their students at the book fair.”

Participating in this event brings the students and the moms together as a family.

“It makes the kids feel so important. We all know that mornings are really busy and breakfast is usually whatever is fast and furious,” Wilson said.” This gives the kids an opportunity to actually have some one on one time with their mom and just visit with them and spend time with them. It makes them feel very important, because they are important.”

There are many reasons why the parents enjoy eating breakfast with their children.

“I love my kids and I love spending time with them and making them feel special,”  said Wilson.

Muffins for Moms turned out to be a hug success; Sidney Deener plans on hosting more events like this in the future.
