This year schools from all around, show up at Mills High School, for Orchestra All- Region. This early morning rivalry,  joins many students, from all around to, so they can compete for the title, and the satisfaction of being the best of the best.

“We go to Mill’s High School early in the morning and at about 8:30, music excerpts, which we have to play, at the audition starts playing,” Junior Hallie Hite explained, ” After that, the audition times are posted and everyone practices frantically until their audition time arrives.”

“I get really nervous, so I try to remind myself that even if I don’t make it, I’m still good,” Junior Brittany Sumerall said.

Many steps are taken to prepare for all region by many of the students who attend this event.

“I get very nervous, but the only real way to get rid of anxiety, is to be prepared to do the best of your ability,” Hite said. “Practicing often and in small increments to boost your confidence,” Hite stated.

All region Orchestra tryouts aren’t all just fun and games.

“My least favorite thing about the audition, would have to be the pressure of the audition and the endless practicing before hand, along with the nerves I have,” Sumerall explained.

And for some more than others, the All region tryouts were more then just competitions, against not only our school, but many others as well.

“My favorite part would most likely have to be the times after my audition when I can just go around make new friends, and just chill,” Hite said.

While auditioning, many students have many emotions going through their mind, as well a strange mix of feelings.

“Anxiety, pressure, fear, and sleep deprivation, would be the few things that I  have going through my mind, it just depends on whether or not you want to make  it or not,” Hite stated.

All in all the Orchestra tryouts seemed to be a great success.

“I had a blast, throughout the whole thing, I wouldn’t change the fact that I tried out, it was an amazing experience,” Sumerall explained.
