IMG_0453Searcy’s community dinner theater, Center on the Square, holds auditions for citizens of our town to try out for various shows that the theater puts on.

The theater is a wonderful option for families who are interested in the arts and it provides good clean fun for the families of Searcy and the audiences that watch the shows.

The process is not complicated; The cast is chosen and extensive practices follow, ended by outstanding performances.

Some shows are musicals, some are comedies, and some are about historical events.  “Vintage Hitchcock: A Live Radio Show.”

The actors and the actresses change characters often, and they definitely pull it off well. Some of the actors and actresses participate in several plays throughout the year, but the list of newcomers continues to grow with each show put on.

Of the plays I’ve seen, Vintage Hitchcock was definitely on the list of my top ten favorites. It was suspenseful and I was kept on the edge of my seat, quite literally at times.

The first half of the play was a murder mystery and the second was more of a high speed chase.

IMG_0489The lights were a wonderful addition to the constantly changing plot, and the sound effects contributed greatly to the feeling the show emits.

The actors and actresses play their parts well.

It’s obvious that a lot of work is put into each performance, and they put lots of emotion into their roles.

Overall, the experience was a wonderful one, and I learned about the themes that can be expected in Alred Hitchcock’s many suspenseful murder mysteries.
