For some students, senior night can be a very emotional evening.

It is the mile stone that some seniors take when it comes to leaving high school behind.

“The senior night game is our last school game possibly,” explained senior cheerleader Bailey Garringer. “So that makes me a little bit sad because as my first year on the cheer team I’m making a lot of new friendships.”

“It’s crazy that my senior night is finally here. I remember spending three years with some awesome seniors, and now we’re seniors and it’s just really crazy,” said senior Sydni Woodard. “It’s really bittersweet and so emotional.”

Senior Morgan Stanley explained how sad it is to be leaving the student section, which she had been a part of since her freshman year.

“This year, I got to kind of lead the student section with all of my friends so it’s really sad to know that this is the last game I’ll get to cheer at as a student here. It’s just really sad, but everything does come to an end,” she said.

“I love seeing my best friends out there fighting as hard as they can. I mean, they’ve been fighting throughout their whole high school career and it means a lot to see them come out swinging against the number one team in the state right now and they’re putting up a fight. I give them respect for it,” said senior Matt Duncan.

For the majority of the seniors leaving behind activities, such as playing in the band, participating in football, or just cheering on the Lions, has proved to be very emotional.

“I’m just afraid that once football season is gone, basketball season will be a little bit different, but we did have a pretty good season,” added Garringer.

“It’s a bittersweet moment,” Stanley further explained. “It’s exciting as well.”Screen Shot 2014-01-21 at 2.56.57 PM

All the seniors think it’s crazy that’s it was the last home game.

” I don’t even really want to think about it just because it’s my last home game with all these amazing people that I’ve grown up with,” Woodard agreed.

“I think it’s really sad to see all my friends go,” Duncan included. “I mean we’re all going to go different ways. Being here in this atmosphere for so long and being all the field during a lot of it, it’s heartbreaking to see it all end.”

Although it is tough for many, leaving these precious memories behind is something that cannot be avoided.

“I mean we’re going off to college so it’s going to be a little bit scary so this night is just kind of weaning us off of each other, I guess. We’re not going to be as close,” Garringer said about her cheer squad and classmates.

“It’s going to be really hard to know that I’m not going to go to a Friday night football game anymore and sit in the student section and cheer on my Lions. I’m so proud of our team this year,” Stanley stated.

Be sure to attend basketball senior night when the basketball season comes to an end.
