Fall Festival delights kids, parents

Every year the Beta Club hosts a Fall Halloween Festival for the surrounding community. Many members of Beta choose to participate by dressing up, helping run an activity, and bringing candy.

This year the festival, held on Oct. 27, had an abundance of candy with almost every member bringing two bag each. Each bag counted as service points for the individual who brought them.

“I really enjoy entertaining little kids and seeing their faces when I hand them candy,” said junior Haley Duncan. “I cant believe that something so fun would actually earn me service points.”

Many of the kids enjoyed face painting, candy fishing, ping pong toss, pin the nose on a pumpkin, and other games.  Students also had the option to design their own activity.

Seniors Lupe Castorena, Tiffany Conder, and Junior Sarah Barnhart used their artistic talents to help kids make their own personalized candy bags.

“I think that kids should have something special to put their candy in instead of a plastic sack,” said Castorena.

Another group chose to make a mystery box where kids guessed what the item inside was based on its touch.

Several of the faculty members as well as their families came out to support the event.

“I really felt like it was a great time for me to spend with my daughter and wife,” biology teacher Kris Thompson said. “I am looking forward to what next year’s fall festival has to bring.”
