New stores opened in town last November, but this store buts a unique spin on your typical grocery store.

“Good Measure market is an Amish style bulk food store,” said Nancy Oliver.

Nancy explains the uniqueness of Amish store style.

“Amish style meaning we buy in bulks and we break it down, which is different from a real bulk food store where you dig into a bin or you loosen a chamber that drops food,” said Nancy Oliver.

As unique as it is, Mike and Nancy drew inspiration  from a little shop in Tennessee.

“We lived in West Tennessee and there was a store there called Ada’s Unusual Country Store,” said Nancy Oliver.

“It was kind of not much to look at, and if it was a restaurant you would think it was a hole in the wall kind of restaurant,” said Mike Oliver.

Seeing the progress that the store made, left an impact on the Oliver’s.

“It was a bulk food store that began as a bakery and grill, and they added a little corner that had bulk foods in it, and well I began shopping there and I kinda watched them grow,” said Nancy Oliver.

There were many things that the two found inspiring.

“I loved the relationships of the people there like the staff and the customers and it just had a really good feel of it and so that, cemented a picture in our minds of an environment we wanted to create if we ever opened up a store,” said Mike Oliver.

This store has been a dream of Mike and Nancys for years.

“We have been wanting to open up a store for about  20 plus years,” Oliver said. “The difference in wanting to do something and actually getting it off the ground is a lot of years of thought and research and prayers.”.

Knowing their hard work had payed off, Mike and Nancy felt a great sense of relief once the store was finally up and running.

“And then there was this huge let down once we opened because we didn’t have any more plans to make,” said Mike Oliver.

For Mike and Nancy this store is more than a business,  it’s a way to grow closer to the community.

“The opportunity to meet and just connect with people in a retail environment, and if you have a product or service that you can help people with, it’s just that more rewarding,” said Mike Oliver.

If you’re interested in visiting Good Measures Market, they are located on 14 South Main Street.
