The Daily Thought #2 – Tardies

One thing I’ve noticed recently is the amount of time between classes. Students here at Searcy High School only have five minutes to get from one class to another. I think it’s kind of a silly idea because some students have to come from one side of the entire school and go to the other side. So, this allows for no time to ask a teacher a few questions or to finish up what you are working on in class. This also makes students have to rush or even run to their classes to get there on time, and if they are even a second late, they will get a tardy. On the 4th tardy, the student will receive detention hall, and every two tardies after that, they get another detention hall. I think high school principles should either have a slightly longer time period between classes, or not have tardies at all. Because, if the students are late, they are missing important information, and are therefore punishing themselves essentially.
