Freshmen make decorative boards for money

A group of Freshman girls from Searcy High has found a unique way to have fun and make some extra cash by making decorative boards that have become very popular around town.

“We got started on the boards by my mom. She got a Cricket for her birthday and she looked on Pinterest and got the idea. We just started doing it for fun and it just kind of turned into a little business,” says Hannah Osborn.

They got started with the business, One Bright Hour, last may and they’ve sold over 200 boards so far.

The boards from One Bright Hour come in many different sizes and styles. They can have scriptures, cute sayings, quotes, or any custom order.

The process is long, but worth the wait.

“Well, first we sand the board and prime it, then we find a verse, saying or quote wanted on it and print the letters out for it and put them on the board. While painting over the board, we use a stencil and paint that a different color. After sanding it the second time, we antique it,” says Delaney Smith.

The smaller boards cost $15 and the bigger boards cost $22.

If interested in buying a board, you can custom order on their Facebook page ‘One Bright Hour’ or go to the BeesKneez in Searcy.
