Two clubs shop for those who most need help

As a member of National Honor Society and Spanish Honorary, and Beta club, part of being a member means volunteering and doing service work to benefit the club, the community, and yourself.

This past week, as Christmas was drawing near we club members all got really excited and filled with a little Christmas Spirit!

For the past few years, these clubs have been participating in the Angel Tree Shopping event.  Basically, underprivileged families sign up to have gifts given to their children, when they aren’t capable of doing so themselves.

We collected a few lists, and a large group of us all went to Walmart a few days this week to shop for our kids.My group list consisted of two little boys, and two senior citizens.

Each person had a one-hundred dollar limit to spend–which really was just enough when the lists were so modest.  Most every kid’s list I saw asked for one toy, and their number one need was clothes.

The two senior citizens I  had only wanted socks.  It was so sad to realize the difference among privileges and blessings we have in life compared to these kids.  I felt so humbled and honored to be able to help give a great Christmas to these kids.  After all, the gift of giving, is the best feeling in the world.
