Freshmen begin new life on campus

At the beginning of every school year, apprehensive freshman fill the halls at Searcy High School and many have mixed emotions about being at a new school.

“I got lost a few times, but I got my way around, ”   freshman Michel Hambey said. “So far it seems pretty good. I mean I haven’t gotten picked on, so that’s good.”

Reggie Jenkins also was also worried about getting lost.

“I came here thinking I wasn’t going to be able to find any of my classes on time, but even though everything is different I found everything on time,”  Jenkins said.

Freshman Cylia Thomas found here experience different because she now had classes with upper classmen.

“Some classes will have mixtures of ages like some will have all freshman or freshman, sophomores, juniors, and seniors,”  Thomas said.

Even though they were nervous everyone was very excited to be reunited with their friends and experiencing something new.

“I’m looking forward to getting back together with my friends from junior high and meeting new people.” Ben Howard said.

Thomas also says she is looking forward to experiencing a new school. For the new freshman, finding their way around is just the beginning of their experience at Searcy High School.
