Track team trains for spring sport

Searcy’s track team begins every year with rounds of training, practice runs, meetings, and exercises.  Track athletes are excited for this year’s upcoming season.

They have already started the training regime to prepare for their upcoming track meets and competitions.
The track team’s athletes are excited for their new teammates.

“I’m excited.  We’ve got Louise and Nelson and they’re going to bring so much opportunity for the new track team.  We might get more wins,” said sophomore Eddy Follet.

They are in high hopes for many wins for the season.  Many athletes hope to lower their personal records and bring home the glory.

“Well for me, I’m going to try to start out on the 800 and I’m hoping to get some new personal records.  I’m just looking forward to trying to get better every year and push myself a little bit more so I can get faster,” Follet said.

“I’m hoping to break the 1600m record,”  junior Rhett Raibley said  “That record has been there too long.  It’s mine for the taking.”

“I’m hoping for trying to beat my personal record and to not get last place,” said junior Alli Thomas.

The start of the new season brings many opportunities for the team.  Some opportunities this year include a newly repaved track and repainted lines.

“Oh yeah I’m excited!  I’m really excited about them repainting the track.  It really needed repainting.  Our track was really bad,” Raibley said.
