French Club Valentines

Searcy (LP) It is that special time of year again. Everywhere you go you will see pink hearts, boxes of chocolates, and giant teddy bears. Whether you enjoy Valentine’s Day or not, you cannot avoid seeing symbols of love everywhere you go.

The Searcy High School French Club has come up with an easy and affordable way to let someone know you are thinking about them this Valentine’s Day. The French Club sells Valentines outside of the cafeteria every day to make this holiday just a little more festive. There are two options of Valentines. One option is a pink butterfly with a dum dum sucker in the middle of it. The second option is a red heart with a dum dum sucker through it, and each option costs one dollar each.

Once you buy the Valentine, you get to choose whom it will be sent to. You can choose from anyone in the Searcy High School. You can also buy as many as you want and have them sent to as many people as you want. The Valentines will be delivered 6th period on the Friday before Valentine’s Day.

Not only is buying a surprise Valentine a great way to brighten someone’s day, but it is also greatly beneficial for the French Club. All of the money that is gathered from this sale go directly to helping the French Club.

When asked what this money isĀ used for, Mrs. Slaughter, the French Club sponsor, answered, “This money plus the many other fundraisers we do all goes to help out with the activities we provide for the French students. We use it for foreign language week and celebration days as well as buying gifts for senior citizens and helping out with the community.”

“This fund raiser has been a tradition for six years now, and I plan to keep doing it for many years to come,” Mrs. Slaughter told us. “It is hard work, but it is well worth it to help make someone’s special day a little more special.”

Make sure you stop by the table outside the cafeteria this week to pick up a sweet Valentine for someone special.
