The Top 5 Commercials of the 2016 Super Bowl

10. Mountain Dew’s ‘Puppymonkeybaby’

This commercial capitalizes on its bizarre premise to burn itself into the collective retinas of America. Will anybody forget the abomination with the legs of a baby, the body of a monkey, and the head of a dog that went around distributing Mountain Dew?

9. Wix’s ‘Kung Fu Commercial’

Featuring characters from the upcoming animated comedy Kung Fu Panda 3, Wix presents the audience with a problem (a small business needing a website) and the solution (Wix’s easy-to-use website builder.)

8. Audi’s ‘Commander’

Tapping into their audience’s innate curiosity and wanderlust, Audi has redefined the celebrity endorsement game. Featuring Apollo I astronaut Buzz Aldrin in a new Audi, it presents the viewer with a clear narrative: we can’t all go to space, but we can all buy an Audi. Close enough, right?

7. Jeep’s ‘Portraits’

Jeep decides to take a break from the bizarre-ness and humor of other Super Bowl commercial and instead takes the audience on a journey throughout its lifetime, showing the celebrities of old that once drove a Jeep. When they put it like that, why wouldn’t you want to drive the same vehicle that Marilyn Monroe drove?

6. Pepsi’s ‘The Joy of Pepsi’

Taking the viewer on a joy ride throughout time, Pepsi taps into the collective nostalgia of its audience to help move soft drinks.

5. Hyundai’s ‘First Date’

Kevin Hart’s shotgun-style comedy works perfectly in the commercial medium. His loud, trademark voice pulls the viewer’s attention towards the screen as his humor seals the deal. All in all, this commercial was a wonderful move on behalf of Hyundai.

4. Honda’s ‘A New Truck To Love’

Not to be outdone, Honda’s commercial gives Hyundai and Kevin Hart a run for their money. What’s not to love about a flock of Sheep singing Queen?

3. Heinz’ “Wiener Stampede”

It’s no secret that a commercial without attractive people, comedy, or cute animals won’t attract any potential customers, and Heinz knows this. Covering two out of the three bases with this commercial, Heinz throws a literal stampede of dachshunds dressed as hot dogs towards the audience. This commercial is both eye-catching and memorable, and makes me crave an actual hot dog after watching it.

2. NFL’s ‘Super Bowl Babies’

This commercial takes NFL’s slogan of “Football is family” and takes it hilariously too far. Starting the commercial by stating a simple fact, that cities of NFL teams experience a boom in birth-rates nine months after winning the Super Bowl, it stars these so-called “Super Bowl babies.” I’ll admit, I never expected to see small children singing about why they were conceived alongside musician Seal when I turned on the TV that Sunday, but it was most definitely an enjoyable experience.

1. Doritos’ ‘Doritos Dogs’

It’s no secret that having dogs do cute and/or funny things is the secret to making your Super Bowl commercial memorable, and Doritos knows this. This commercial features three dogs and their quest for Doritos, and it’s a laugh riot the entire time.

1. Doritos’ ‘Ultrasound’

Doritos’ entire marketing strategy focuses on short bursts of bizarre to force their product to the forefront of consumers’ minds. What better way to do that than to show their product inducing labor in a pregnant woman?
