Students get to go backstage at Drake Bell concert

A group of Searcy High students recently had the opportunity to attend a concert given by Drake Bell who most teenagers remember from the Nickelodeon television comedy Drake & Josh.

Seniors Cassandra Lancaster, Erika Wright, and Lupe Castorena and Juniors Bradley Taylor and Dakota Galban paid $20 a piece for tickets to see the musician performing in Little Rock.

“I wouldn’t say Drake Bell is one of my favorite artists, but he followed me on Twitter so I decided to check him out,” said Senior Lupe Castorena. “It was cool to meet him after the show.”

Juanitas in Little Rock is not the average concert spot in the fact that it is a more laid back atmosphere. Juanitas serves as a restaurant and bar and has a stage for performances.  Since this concert was a little more relaxed than most, the teenagers had no problem going backstage after the performance.

“It was really easy to meet him. We basically waited for him after the show and then followed him into the dressing room,” said Junior Dakota Galban.

Junior Bradley Taylor felt really overwhelmed by the whole experience.

“I am a huge fan of Justin Beiber, but after Drake’s concert and getting to hang out with him, I think I like Drake Bell more than Justin,” Taylor said. “I never thought I would say that…”

Drake Bell’s concert seemed like a once in a lifetime experience and bonding time for the students

“Next time he comes to Little Rock, I hope we can all hang out again,” concluded Castorena.
