Procrastination is not key

(Searcy LP) Procrastination- to be slow or late about doing something that should be done : to delay doing something until a later time because you do not want to do it, because you are lazy, etc..

Being a senior procrastination has become a big part of my seniorities. Waiting till the last minute to do assignments doesn’t only stressUnknownc you out but also effect your performance overall. Here are four reasons why procrastination is not key.

  1. Ideas take time to “jell”- Being in media communications I have learned that it is not simple to think of a story idea, gather information, and produce a well thought out story in one class period. My teacher, Mr. Bowman, gives his students two weeks to produce a story but if time is not used wisely it could potentially not be enough time.
  2. You could misestimate the difficulty of the task.Sometimes it is harder to exactly guess how much time it’ll tke to do the assignment. Especially if the work is on unfamiliar or involves many different problems, pieces, or parts. If you procrastinate too long, you might not have enough time to do all the tasks (or to do them all well) .
  3. Something could come up-  Anything is possible! Sickness could surprise you and make you to weak to complete the task for a couple of days. Another teacher could assign a difficult task, or even family problems.
  4. The task isn’t going to change-  Deep down and irrationally many students think that somehow the task is going to get easier if it gets addressed in the distant future. Of course, this is not true the assignment is fixed when it is handed out. So, grab the bull by the horns, start the work when the assignment is given and, who knows, you might actually enjoy doing the work!
