An Artist on the Rise

Searcy (LP) Many people hold unique and special talents. For Searcy High School student Alyson Reynold, this talent comes through in the form of art. Alyson, a senior this year, holds a talent for art that grows greater everyday.

When asked what about art interests her, Alyson answered, “I am interested in always learning new things, and with art, you always can. You never stop learning new techniques and gaining a greater imagination.”

Imagination is very important to this young artist. When asked what she likes to portray through her art, Alyson told us all about how she likes to let people use their imagination when looking at her art. “I try to portray my art work where anyone can connect to it. I love using water colors and blurry colors because they gave me a free feeling, and I want other people to feel that way too.”

Alyson has never taken any art classes besides the ones at school, but her natural talent for art has been developing her whole life. “I have been interested in art since Kindergarten. I used to do art competitions in Elementary School, and I really enjoyed those,” Alyson told us when we asked how long art has been a part of her life.

In the past, Alyson has created many beautiful pieces of art. When asked what her favorite piece she had done was, she answered, “My favorite piece is my abstract pen and ink drawing. It took the longest, and it was the most interesting one I have done.”

Alyson looks forward to doing many more projects in the future. “I really want to start on an animal project because I really want to learn how to draw fur and make it look as realistic as possible.”

Alyson has not had the advantage of taking art classes all through out high school, so she had a bit of advice to give to anyone interested in art. “I would tell anyone interested to for sure do it. This is my senior year, so I do not have a chance to take higher level art classes. If I had the chance to go back and take art earlier, I definitely would.”

Alyson can not wait to see where her art takes her. Whether she pursues it as a career, or she just does it as a hobby, it will always be an important part of her life.
