Being Fit

Getting fit

Searcy (LP) Being in good physical shape is one of the most important things in life. Being fit can make life more enjoyable, improve over all health, and is very easy to achieve. The internet can make being fit seem impossible, seeing ripped models sporting a six-pack and huge biceps can be discouraging to some.

Most don’t know that something as simple as walking two miles a day can keep you in great shape. A great goal for most people would  be to get at least four hours of physical activity a week. Jordan Skabronski is a serious weightlifter and goes to the gym almost 10 hours every week. This may be extreme for some, but Jordan says, “Working out makes me feel better and more active. I feel cleaner and more energetic when I exercise regularly.” Jordan has worked out more intensely and more often over the years and his physique is very evident of this.

Avery Smith, a senior, gets an average of 4 hours a week of exercise. This seems to be enough for her, but she says, “I’d like to workout more but I’m a little busy right now and I’m having trouble finding time right now.” The main issue with exercising is finding time. For those who are new to it, finding an hour or two out of the day to work out can be a challenge.

Blake Smith, who gets an average of 6 hours of exercise a week, says he tries to go running after work. He fits in weight lifting when he can, but he feels that running is sufficient in keeping him in shape. Blake is a busy person and this shows that anybody can find time to exercise. “Between work and school, I don’t have a lot of free time, but I always try to workout as much as I can and I always feel better when I do.” It’s time to stop making excuses, and start making progress.
