Future Alumni of Searcy High

Searcy (LP) The time has finally come. With 13 years of school behind us, it is almost time for graduation. To most Seniors, this time seems surreal. There are only 5 days of high school left. This is the last time everyone you have grown up with will be in the same room together. In a few short months, everybody will be living in different towns. Different colleges and different opportunities will soon be apart of our lives. Parents and teachers raised us for this very moment. The time for every senior to walk across the stage at graduation to receive their diploma. Some students cannot wait to leave high school and never look back, some become very emotional as the end approaches.

My advice is to enjoy these last few days of high school, because you will miss it.

Senior at Searcy High, Jordan Skabronski says, “This year has flown by so fast. I did not expect it to be over so soon. I am sad that things are coming to an end, but I am excited about what college will hold for me in Florida. I will be able to do my homework on the beach.”

Jordan is one of the students that are traveling outside the natural state of Arkansas. The most popular college for students to attend after high school is The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. So many want to be a Razorback.

Senior Mason Murphy claims, “I will always be a Razorback fan. I am excited to see what Fay-Town has to offer.”

SHS Graduation: May 7th

My advice to all 250 seniors of Searcy High is to look back and enjoy all the memories you have made. Soon you will look back on these memories and smile. Remember, do not give in yet. There are still 5 days of school left, followed by semester tests. Keep your GPA as high as possible. Colleges will know what grades you have made up until the end.

Math teacher Mrs. Webb says, “I do get sentimental once the seniors leave, but I know they have great things ahead of them.  All their hard work has finally paid off.”

It is good to know that teachers have good things in mind for the soon to be graduates of 2016. Their job is to prepare us for the big bad world that is ahead of us.

Senior, Jessica Mitchell claims, “The saddest part about senior year is everyone going off in different directions. I feel like once everybody moved I might not see the majority of them again.”

Seniors, do not get sad too fast. The majority of us still have prom and graduation to spend together.

I believe that though you may not live in the same town as your best friend anymore, that does not mean it has to end your friendship. Technology is an amazing thing and there are so many ways to communicate. Most students come home on weekends to spend time with their loved ones and close friends. Miles and miles apart we will forever be Lions at heart.
