Legends of Tomorrow Season 1 Pre-Finale Review

p11783346_b_v8_aaSearcy(LP) The show follows Time Master Rip Hunter who after seeing what doom the future holds, realizes heroes alone are not enough to prevent the impending catastrophe that threatens not only the planet, but all of time itself. Tasked with recruiting both heroes and villains, Rip brings together a ragtag team of divergent talents, which includes White Canary, F.I.R.E.S.T.O.R.M., The A.T.O.M., Hawkgirl, Captain Cold and Heat Wave. The show is a spin-off from Arrow and The Flash, existing in the same fictional universe.

In early 2015, the original idea for the series centered on Ray Palmer/The A.T.O.M. It was to be a superhero team-up series, with different guest stars each episode. Over the year, it developed into a show about a superhero team traveling through time to save the world. The pilot premiered to average ratings and has slowly declined with each episode. Many of the problems the show faces is having a such a large cast each episode, it is hard to focus on all of them. Also, the time travel aspect can hinder the story, creating confusion amongst the audience.

One of the positives is the special effects, which stems from the huge budget. It really shows the studio has faith in the show despite the low viewership. Another one of the positives is the acting. Every single cast member knocks it out of the park, and then some. This is Oscar level acting, and is one of the things critics agree on is a plus for the show.

Overall, despite it’s rocky start, it’s looking like the season will end on a high note (if the most recent episodes are anything to go by). Die hard DC Comics fans will enjoy this series, as will the normal television audience. With that said, I give this show a 8 out of 10.
