Stresses of debt

Searcy (LP) Most students have not had to worry about the stresses of debt, but as soon as you are out of high school and on your own you have no idea how to “adult” and then the debt hits you in the face faster than it took to create it. Having a job and some responsiblities while your in high school will help you learn to manage money and how to properly use it. Getting a part time job after school will teach you how to work, then saving that money for a car, college, or anything will teach you how to budget correctly. Mrs. Mosley gave me good information on how to stay out of debt. She said, “Make buying things with cash a priority, also creating a budget with saving as a main goal after paying off debts.”

mrs-mosleyA good way to stay out of debit when you graduate high school, make sure you have had money saved up for college. You may not be able to pay all of your college, but paying cash for most of college always helps. But another thing to look out for is taking out student loans. Student loans will follow you for the rest of your life, making you pay on them for the rest of your life. Also another thing to think about is what if you go to college and you took out loans and decided to drop and you spent that money, you have to pay it back. So loans aren’t the way to go. But a good way to go is to take your ACT as much as you can. The higher the score, the higher check amount you will get for scholarships. That also means the less you will have to pay out of pocket. Other options are grants, FAFSA, and get into a work study program if the campus has it.

Getting out of school, every teen thinks they know what they are doing, but honestly we don’t understand anything about life. Taking our finance class with Mrs. Mosley before moving out for the first time is suggested, and very well worth everyones time! Another thing to look into before moving is DaveRamsey. He is a finance talkshow host, which is also a self made millionaire. Nobody really knows exactly what to do, but all the advice given is helpful in life
