img_2435This was the 4th year for the Dinner with Orchestra. This annual event is to raise funds for the summer orchestra camp tuition, the purchase of instruments and repairs, and aids funding for students who participate in All-Region and All-State Orchestras. The concert was performed by 5 different groups. They were 6th-grade orchestra, 7th-grade orchestra, 8th-grade orchestra, 9th-grade orchestra and high school orchestra. “This is a great opportunity for parents, students, and the community to see the progression of students’ learning from 6th grade all the way through to high school.” said Mrs. Guthrie, the director of the Searcy Orchestra, “We want our families to come together and enjoy one another’s company and the music entertainment throughout the night.” A lot of parents and students had the dinner and enjoyed the concert in the cafeteria. The Italian-style dinner was cooked by the lunch ladies. A parent said the concert was very impressive, the music was very beautiful and the food was very good. She also said it was exciting to see those kids’ progress from 6th grade to high school. This concert had been prepared for 2 months since the school started and students all worked very hard on the music. During the last concert, 8 Seniors in the High School Orchestra played the “This is Halloween” together for the parents and children. “ We chose this song because Halloween and Christmas are coming and also this is a very lovely song for this season and there are a lot of children love this song.” said Chesni Raiblry, a senior in Searcy High School Orchestra. After the concert, all orchestra students cleaned up the cafeteria and moved the chairs and stands back to the classroom.

The concert was very successful and wonderful. Everyone who was listening or playing the concert had a lot of fun that night.
