This Christmas concert was the last concert of the Searcy School Orchestra in 2016. They had prepared the concert for one month, Tuesday was the performance day. The performance was more than 1 hour because there were 5 groups of the orchestra. It started at 7:00pm and finished at 8:30pm. The videos recording and pictures were allowed and parents were welcome to bring their children to the concert. This concert has some differences than usual. It added the drums and the piano on the music and students can wear other colors instead of all black. “ Orchestra students can wear all black or Christmas sweaters and they have to wear a Santa hat or put it on their instruments.” Mrs. Guthrie said, the director of Searcy School Orchestras. This concert had been prepared for 1 month since November. There were 4 groups of the orchestra and the concert of the last group, high school orchestra was the longest. They played 5 songs and they were Wizards in Winter, Silent Night, A Mad Russian’s Christmas, Mary, did You Know and Christmas Eve respectively. Many students said they were really excited about this concert. “ My favorite song is Silent Night. The rhythm is very soft and beautiful, and it is also a very classic Christmas song.” said Chesni Raibley. Another student said these songs were new for them because they have not played before except for The Christmas Eve. Many audiences said the last song was very impressive. “I love the Christmas Eve because the rhythm is very lively. This song is so classic that everyone knows it.” said Alyssa Toye, an audience on concert night. The concert sounded more lively and emotional than usual with the piano and drums. While 9th-grade students were playing, there were 9 seniors read a Christmas poem called “Twas the Night Before Christmas” with them. This is a new form of the concert and most of the people enjoyed the reading of seniors.

The concert was very successful and everyone enjoyed themselves that night. It is also a very precious memory for every student, the teachers, and parents.
