Searcy Lion Basketball Team’s Preparation for Batesville Pioneers

Searcy (LP) As basketball season begins to wind down for the varsity boys they are still working hard to prepare for one of the opponents they previously lost to, the Batesville pioneers. The season has been good so far for the players with a record of 6-12 and they are looking to finish strong. To prepare for Batesville they are looking at film to see what the players do during games so they are ready for anything that might come their way and to also keep an eye on the key players. The first time they played Batesville they had a lot of new things being thrown at them because it was early season and they had a new coach and a new system.

The players have said it takes teamwork and  keeping hydrated in order to play well and win games. Junior, Tahj Franklin, prefers teamwork over solo attempts “To play efficiently they must work as a whole, no one trying to do it by themselves, and executing the plays.” Throughout the season the team has worked hard on being unified and working together, this year the team has gotten along better than teams in the past. They have also been spending as much time as possible running drills and perfecting shots so when the time comes they can perform to their best ability. Another big factor in winning a basketball game for the Lions is figuring out which shots to take and which ones to not take. One wrong play could cost them points that will help them later in the game.

Nearly all losses throughout the season have been by only a few points, which gives the Lions confidence that they will pull through and beat Batesville this time around. Preparation for Batesville has been rigorous and the players have took it very serious, they are looking to turn their loss around and bring home a win. Although the Lions lost in the past to Batesville they are predicted to win by .375% compared to Batesville’s .091% chance of winning. The Lions are expected to score fifteen points on average per quarter and are expected to come out ahead with 55.4 points as their final score.

The team plans to finish off the season working the hardest they can while having fun in the process. As said by head coach John White, “We just want to do our jobs everyday and let the results speak for themselves.”
