More than tourism: Travel for Teens promotes exploring the world

Searcy (LP) Travel for Teens gives young adults the opportunity to explore the world and learn about new cultures. There are seventy four programs that give teens the choice of going to  forty three different countries. England, Fiji, France, Greece, Italy, Panama, and Switzerland are some examples of the places to travel. This program encourages its participants to embark upon thrilling activities and learn new cultures, instead of just seeing places, the normal activity  for traveling programs. The participants decide what they would like to do and visit on their journeys. Travel for Teens gives students the power to develop new interests and tastes. Each group of teen travelers is smaller than twenty eight people, which provides an experience that is more personalized. Travel for Teens’ main goal is to “teach teens to be travelers, not tourists.” During this traveling experience, the young adults learn to appreciate the places, people, and culture of the country they visit. Safety is a large part in this program. The leaders are First Aid and CPR certified. The staff, destinations, and vendors are chosen vigilantly to ensure they are out of harm. Prices for trips range from three thousand dollars to eight  thousand dollars. For those who love to travel, this program has much to offer. There are  six categories of programs: younger teens, older teens, private and school trips, enrichment programs, community service, and cultural service.

Kathryn Baker at SHS.

Last summer, Kathryn Baker traveled to England, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, France, and the Netherlands.  She enjoyed traveling with a friendly group and meeting new people. The highlights of her experience were hiking in Cinque Tierre, Italy and visiting the Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. She also loved climbing up the Notre Dame in Paris and having a private chocolate making session.  She states “It was the best trip of my life. I earned all the money for the trip. It took me two years, but it was worth it. I’m trying to promote Travel for Teens to other students. I plan on going to Austrailia, Fiji, and New Zealand next summer.”
