Spring Break: Searcy High Style

Searcy (LP) Spring Break can be the most eventful and inviting of all the breaks Searcy High School has to offer.  Spring break can hold the most memorable times of a High Schoolers time in school.  Spring Breakers can go on journeys all over the country or even the world.  Searcy students most often take trips in the United States, and around the Caribbean.  The main hit with students is beaches because of the escape from cold weather in Arkansas.  Also, High Schoolers at Searcy may take more extravagant vacations for their official “Senior Trips.”  The most traveled of students might be going to travel abroad to Europe, and this trip is sure to provide an excellent and rewarding time.

Various students are taking very unique and different vacations.  Sophomore, Grace Ziegenbalg is traveling back to her most visited Spring Break location, St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.  Ziegenbalg looks forward to this trip more than any other vacation they take.  Her favorite things about this location include, “The scenery is beautiful, the locals are friendly, and it’s a relaxed atmosphere. ”  The gorgeous beaches always provide open invitations for the Ziegenbalg family.  Another student at SHS is taking a very different approach to his 2017 Spring Break.  Senior Will Wilkins, plans on going on a trip with all of his best friends.  Wilkins plans on “going camping with my buddies, Hayden Bowman, Sam Lane, and Alfredo Delo in the Ozarks for four days. We would love to hike, fish, and kayak all throughout the wilderness.”

But the most important part of Spring Break Vacations is to make sure students stay safe in whatever they are doing. Students can consciously take part in practicing good safety habits while on a trip.  For those of you who may be traveling to a beach, make sure to apply and reapply sunscreen all over.  Also make sure to stay hydrated when spending hours upon hours in the direct sunlight, and wear sunglasses to protect your eyes from harsh UV rays. But most of all make sure to take some shade because no one wants to come back to Searcy High looking like a lobster.  When traveling to far away places, make sure to familiarize yourself with the country’s climate, language, culture, and native people.  If traveling abroad, make sure to know the local number for 911 in case of emergency.  In the end, no matter where you are traveling to, have fun, and don’t forget to stay safe!
