Mr. SHS Finalists at a Glance

Searcy (LP) Each year the student body of Searcy High School elects a male student to be  Mr. SHS. The five nominees this year for Mr. SHS are Seniors: DeAirus Whitney, Rees Ridout, Daniel Burley, Will Wilkins, and Jackson Hall.

The title of Mr. SHS is awarded to exemplary men whom are popular with the student body.  Nominees are usually students involved in the community and inside school activities.  Whoever wins the election is featured in the Searcy High yearbook and forever remembered as the Mr. SHS of that year. The first nominee, Senior DeAirus Whitney, is a captain of the Searcy Football team, and plans on furthering his football career at Lyon College in Batesville. DeAirus said, “Being Mr. SHS is kinda like a honor to me, because the guys like Alex Davis, Jordan Slaughter, and James Wade, it’s kinda like really cool to be honored as Mr. SHS of Searcy High School, so I think that would be really cool to be a part of.” The next nominee is Rees Ridout. Rees is an avid tennis player on the Searcy Tennis Team and an active member in activities in the school. Next is Daniel Burley, an anchor on the Lion TV News and a huge fan of classic rock. After Daniel is Will Wilkins. Will is a senior player on the Searcy Baseball Team. Wilkins said, “I think being nominated to be Mr. SHS is a honor in itself. Just knowing my classmates respect me and think I could be Mr. SHS is a great feeling. If I won the title of Mr. SHS, that would be a great way to end my highschool career and go out with a blast.” The last nominee is Jackson Hall who is also a captain of the Searcy High Football team and plans to go to Lyon College and play football, along with DeAirus Whitney.
