CONGRATULATIONS to the 9/10 Female Chorus and the Voix Des Belles on their outstanding performance at State Festival on Thursday. Both groups received all Division I Superior Ratings from every judge. Because of their superior ratings at both Region and State and sight-reading at Region they earn SWEEPSTAKES!! Well Done Ladies!!!

 

AP EXAMS: All AP students will be called to the cafeteria on Wednesday, April 12 at 9:45 to pre-register for the AP exams. When you enter the cafeteria, you will sit at the table that has the sign of the first test that you will be taking. 

 

FCCLA: FCCLA is selling personalized embroidery key chains through April 12th.  Prices range from $3.50-10.00.  Great graduation and Mother’s Day gifts.  See a FCCLA member if you are interested. 

ACT ASPIRE TEST: The 9th grade ACT Aspire Summative Testing will be Tuesday and Wednesday, April 18-19, from 8:00 AM till 11:00 AM. Students will need to check with their English teachers beginning Thursday, April 13 to find out where they will be testing. 

 

CONGRATULATIONS: to these students who placed at FBLA State Conference on April 3 & 4  :Wesley Aday 3rd place in Organizational Leadership Weston Simpson 3rd place in Introduction to Business Communications. These students qualify to compete at National FBLA Leadership Conference this summer in Anaheim, California.

 

YEARBOOK APPLICATIONS: Those interested in applying for the 2017-18 Lion yearbook staff may pick up applications in either office or see Mrs. Holeyfield. The deadline is May 5, 2017.

 

ANATOMY LAB: There will be an Anatomy lab April 24 in the PAC. This is available to anyone who has a science class. Get your consent forms in ASAP.

SENIORS: If you have not ordered or picked up your cap/gown unit just a REMINDER!  You cannot participate in graduation ceremonies if you do not have a cap/gown.  If for any reason you cannot obtain one, please see Ms. Daves.

 

GOLF TRYOUTS: Golf tryouts: Tryouts for the 2017 Lion and Lady Lion golf teams will be May 15th-17th at 3:30 at Searcy Country Club.  Students must have a current physical to tryout.  Free Physicals at school are on March 31st.  Students can sign up and pick up an information sheet and physical form in Coach Turney’s room (117).  There will be a MANDATORY meeting for all students trying out on Wednesday, May 10th at 3:15 in Coach Turney’s room.  You MUST sign up, have a physical, return the information sheet, and attend the meeting in order to tryout.

 

BOYS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS:  Tryouts for next year’s SHS boys’ basketball team for all spring sport athletes will be on May 22nd and 23rd at 1:00 in the Annex gym.  Any student who wishes to tryout must sign up with Coach White and have a current physical.  For more information see Coach White or Coach Turney.

GIRLS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS: Tryouts for the girls basketball team will be May 18th, 22nd and 23rd from 1:30 – 3:30 each day.  If you plan on trying out you will need to have a physical and attend every day of tryouts.  If you need additional information contact Coach Birdsong room 315 at Searcy High School.

 

IMMUNIZATIONS:  Once you have turned 16 years old, a 2nd MCV4 (meningitis) shot will be required.  Please bring an updated shot record to the nurse as soon as you receive this shot.

 

C*A*M*P*:  Applications for C*A*M*P (formally known as M*A*S*H) are now available in the Guidance Center. They are due April 21st and need to be returned to the hospital. Students entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade this upcoming 2017-18 school year and have a 2.5 GPA may apply. More information is available on the cover sheet of the application.

 

SCHOLARSHIPS:

LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS are being posted at http://www.searcyschools.org/o/searcy_high_school/browse/7338.

Pay close attention to details and instructions on ALL scholarships.

 

THE DISTINGUISHED YOUNG WOMEN OF ARKANSAS  SCHOLARSHIP :If you are a girl in the Class of 2018 and involved in school and/or community activities, outstanding academics, leadership, athletics OR the arts and interested in earning scholarships for college, The Distinguished Young Women of Arkansas (formally Jr. Miss) scholarship program may be for you. For more information in applying to compete, please see Mrs. Cleveland in the Guidance Center for details.

 

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS: 

SPANISH CLUB: Spanish Club will meet Tuesday, April 11, at 7:30 am in Miss Haynes’ room.  We will be doing Spring Cards for Kids.

 

FCCLA: FCCLA meeting Wednesday 12th in FACS room at 7:35 am.  Discussing officer elections, honor banquet, and return of keychain orders.
