Trending TV Shows

Searcy (LP) Teens spend an estimated 1/3 of their free time watching Netflix, Hulu, and regular TV shows. Here at SHS it is no secret that the students spend a large sum of their time binge watching TV series. The secret I am out to uncover is which series are the most popular and recommended among the student body. Sophomore Julia Shands says, “My favorite show right now is definitely Thirteen Reasons Why on Netflix. I seriously watch it everyday. I’m obsessed”. The show is based on the novel written by Jay Asher. Thirteen Reasons Why is about a girl named Hannah Baker who has recently committed suicide. She left thirteen cassette tapes to people who were the cause of her death. Thirteen Reasons Why is a new Netflix original series that is trending on all social media platforms and highly recommended.

Another student, Junior McKinley Jackson recommends the show Gossip Girl.  Jackson states “I have finished the entire series and have restarted it recently, it’s just so good”. Gossip Girl is also based on a best selling novel, written by Cecily Von Ziegesar. Gossip Girl is about New York’s elite teens who’s scandals and secrets are leaked to the public by an anonymous site called Gossip Girl. It is also on Netflix and is one of the most watched shows on the site.

Justin Murdaugh recommends anything Kardashian related. He stated, “That family is just so entertaining, I watch Keeping up with the Kardashians and all of their spin off shows too”. Keeping up with the Kardashians  is a reality TV show that follows the Kardashian family and all of their drama. The Kardashian brand also has spin off shows such as Khloe’ and Kourtney take Miami, Kim and Kourtney take New YorkDash Dolls, and Khloe’ and Kourtney take the Hamptons. Social media follows this show almost religiously so if you want to stay up to date on all of the Kardashian pop culture these shows are recommended for you. These recommended shows are all favorites of mine and apparently the student body. They are all reflected in our generation and who we are as a school.
