SENIORS: Seniors need to pay off their cafeteria debt as soon as possible – there will be no more charging as of 4/18/17.

 

HONOR GRAD PHOTOS: Honor graduates who dropped off photos for the honor graduate video may pick up these photos in the East office. 

 

PROM TICKETS: Prom tickets will go on sale Tuesday, April 18 thru Thursday, April 27.  You may purchase your tickets from Ms. Nielsen or Mrs. Farhatt before or after school.  Seniors do not need to buy a ticket.  Juniors who did not earn their points will need a $50.00 ticket.  Guest tickets are $30.00.  Juniors who earned a ticket may pick those up from Mrs. Farhatt.Purchase your tickets before the Prom so that you don’t have to wait in line!!!

2017 SHS GRADUATION DVD PRE-ORDERS: Pick up your DVD order form in either office. Each DVD is $20, and the money must be turned in with your order.  Please have exact change or check will be accepted.

 

ACT PREP COURSE: SHS will host a free ACT Prep Course May 30-June 2 on the SHS Campus.  Interested Searcy High School students may stop by the Guidance Center to sign up.  There a limited number of slots available so students should sign up early.  The deadline to sign up is April 28. 

 

CHANGE IN PROCEDURE TO REQUEST DRIVERS TEST ATTENDANCE FORM:  The office will provide the Drivers Test Attendance Form at the time the student is checked out to take the test.  The student is responsible to make sure you have met the requirements to receive the letter before you have your parent come to the office to check you out. Requirements: Student is maintaining a “C” average the previous SEMESTER (not a 9 week period), AND is properly enrolled in school. 

 

YEARBOOK APPLICATIONS: Those interested in applying for the 2017-18 Lion yearbook staff may pick up applications in either office or see Mrs. Holeyfield. The deadline is May 5, 2017.

 

ANATOMY LAB: There will be an Anatomy lab April 24 in the PAC. This is available to anyone who has a science class. Get your consent forms in ASAP.

 

SENIORS: If you have not ordered or picked up your cap/gown unit just a REMINDER!  You cannot participate in graduation ceremonies if you do not have a cap/gown.  If for any reason you cannot obtain one, please see Ms. Daves.

 

GOLF TRYOUTS: Golf tryouts: Tryouts for the 2017 Lion and Lady Lion golf teams will be May 15th-17th at 3:30 at Searcy Country Club.  Students must have a current physical to tryout.  Free Physicals at school are on March 31st.  Students can sign up and pick up an information sheet and physical form in Coach Turney’s room (117).  There will be a MANDATORY meeting for all students trying out on Wednesday, May 10th at 3:15 in Coach Turney’s room.  You MUST sign up, have a physical, return the information sheet, and attend the meeting in order to tryout.

 

BOYS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS:  Tryouts for next year’s SHS boys’ basketball team for all spring sport athletes will be on May 22nd and 23rd at 1:00 in the Annex gym.  Any student who wishes to tryout must sign up with Coach White and have a current physical.  For more information see Coach White or Coach Turney.

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL TRYOUTS: Tryouts for the girls basketball team will be May 18th, 22nd and 23rd from 1:30 – 3:30 each day.  If you plan on trying out you will need to have a physical and attend every day of tryouts.  If you need additional information contact Coach Birdsong room 315 at Searcy High School.

 

IMMUNIZATIONS:  Once you have turned 16 years old, a 2nd MCV4 (meningitis) shot will be required.  Please bring an updated shot record to the nurse as soon as you receive this shot.

 

SCHOLARSHIPS:

SEA SCHOLARSHIP FOR GRADUATING SENIORS : If your parent works for Searcy Public Schools, please stop by Mrs. Cleveland’s room to pick up an application for the SEA Scholarship. These are due back to Mrs. Cleveland no later than April 28. 

 

TEXTBOOK RENTAL SCHOLARSHIP: If you are a senior and will be attending ASU-Searcy, ASU-Beebe, ASU-Heber Springs or Harding University, Textbook Brokers will be holding a random drawing May 31st for (1) $250.00 textbook rental scholarship. Other prizes (1) $150.00 textbook rental scholarship, (6) $100.00 textbook rental scholarships. The form may be picked up in the Guidance Center and must be submitted to them by May 29th.

 

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS: 

BETA CLUB: Beta Club will meet on Wednesday, April 19th, at 7:30am in the cafeteria. We will induct our new members and say goodbye to our seniors, so be sure to attend. This is our last meeting of the year.

 

FRENCH HONORARY: French Honorary cords are here for seniors to buy for $12 by April 21st.
