iPhone 8 Rumors and Whispers

Searcy (LP) As summer comes closer kids are excited for the warm weather and no school. But that’s not the only thing to look forward to. The launch of the new iPhone 8 will be in September and millions of people are looking forward to it.

The iPhone 7 released last year had many new features, but some disappointing drawbacks, the most famous of these, Apple taking away the headphone jack. The headphone jack, used for listening through headphones or on an auxiliary cord was replaced with Apple’s own licensed wireless ear pods. These ear pods enable the user to listen to music or sound without cords. But the ear pods come at a whopping price of $150 and up. Sam Watts, an owner of an iPhone 7, said ” The one thing I hate most about my iPhone is there isn’t any headphone jack. And I’m not going to pay $170 just for a couple of ear pods, so now I have to hook my charging cable to my phone, and then plug in my headphones just to listen to music which is a huge hassle.” The next item the iPhone introduced was extraordinary picture quality. The 12-megapixel camera takes sharper photos and great for photographers.

Apple plans to improve as always on all drawbacks they had on their last model, so there should definitely be a better screen. There are even rumors the new model will have an OLED screen rather than their old LCD one. Owen Summerland, a Junior at SHS and an Apple user, said, “I’m excited for this new iPhone. Hopefully, they’ll bring back the headphone jack, and I’ve heard they’ll be moving the fingerprint scanner to the back of the phone.” Yes, there have been leaks of Apple moving the 3D fingerprint scanner from the front to the back of the phone possibly to scan the index finger. There have also been leaks of a curved glass screen on the back much like many curved phones today. Many Apple users are also hoping to see wireless charging on the 7s. Many other smartphone companies, such as LG or Samsung, have incorporated wireless charging into all their smartphones for many years now, leaving Apple in the dust. The estimated price of the new 8 will be close to $650, typical of standard iPhones.
