RED RIBBON WEEK 2017 will take place October 23-27.  This year´s theme is:  “Your Future is Key, So Stay Drug-Free”

The following dress up days have been approved.  School dress code will still apply during this week.  (See Tuesday for an exception.) NO face paint!

  • Monday, October 23:  RED Ribbon Week – (Students will wear red.)
  • Tuesday, October 24:  Your FUTURE is key – Career Day (Students will dress up as their future career) (Hats may be worn today only, as long as they match the career.)
  • Wednesday, October 25: Say “PEACE out” to drugs – 70s day (Students will dress in 70s clothing.)
  • Thursday, October 26:  SOCK it to drugs – Crazy sock day (Students will wear crazy socks.)
  • Friday, October 27:  TEAM up against drugs – Team Jersey Day (Students will wear their favorite team jersey)

HOMECEOMING PICTURES: If you ordered Homecoming Pictures you may pick them up in the East Office.

CONGRATULATIONS  to the SHS Marching Lion Band for earning straight First Division Ratings at the ASBOA Region IV Marching Assessment at Lion Stadium on Tuesday night.  Great job!

 

9th GRADE PEP RALLY: There will be a 9th grade PINKOUT Pep Rally Tuesday, October 31.  We invite everyone to come out to the game dressed in your best PINKOUT attire for the game.  Hope to see you there! Please excuse 9th grade Cheer at 2:30 and students at 2:45

 

PEP RALLY: There will be a Pep Rally for grades 10-12 Friday, October 20 at 2:40.

 

ARKANSAS SCHOOL FOR MATHEMATICS, SCIENCE, AND THE ARTS: The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Science, and the Arts will be here November 16th to present to any interested sophomore.  Any sophomore interested in learning more about ASMSA and wants to attend the presentation needs to sign up in the guidance center by November 15th.  A minimum GPA of 3.25 is one of the requirements for acceptance into ASMSA.

 

SCHOLARSHIPS: visit https://www.studentscholarships.org and register for scholarship for which Arkansas Students are eligible to apply. The scholarships are:  Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway Scholarship, SP Scholarship, VIP Voice Scholarship,Maryknoll Scholarship, Student Photography Scholarship, StyleMann Young Professionals Scholarship, Sixt Scholars, HSC Home Warranty Scholarship, Barbara Lotze Scholarship, and the National Space Club Scholarship

 

 ASVAB: Searcy High School will offer the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) Test on November 14.   This test provides valuable insight to students as they plan their career goals; even students not interested in the military.  Any interested 11th or 12th grade student must sign up in the Guidance Center by November 7. 

 

CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS: 

FTA: The monthly FTA Meeting will be this Friday morning, Oct 20 at 7:30 in the cafeteria.

KEY CLUB: Key Club members need to drop by Mr. Snow’s room 112 and sign-up for the Pancake Breakfast ASAP scheduled for Nov. 7th.  Also sign-up for giving blood in the Key Club Blood Drive coming up on Nov. 16th.  We will also need a few workers for the Blood Drive.
