Voting for first time important part of citizenship

Senior year is a very important year for students for many reasons.  One reason is that seniors get the opportunity to register to vote.  Many seniors will get the opportunity to vote this year, but only a few will actually take that opportunity and make it reality.  For me, getting to vote for the first time is like a passage into being an adult because your decision could decide how our country will be governed.

A lot of students think that voting is pointless, and, because of their opinions, they decide not to register to vote.  Even though there are many that decide not to vote, their are some who choose to vote.  Voting is important to seniors because it helps them to merge into adult society.  It’s also a great way for them to start learning about politics.

Seniors who choose to vote in the presidential election choose their candidate, and they have their own stances on different issues apparent in the upcoming election.  In my opinion, the candidate is one of the big parts that either encourage or discourage people to register to vote.  If a candidate stands for issues that really matter to a younger person then they are more likely to vote for that candidate, but if the   candidate stands for issues that the senior is not really fond of then they probably wont vote for that candidate.

During the presidential election, many issues are discussed among the candidates and voters.  The issues are the main reason a voter decides to vote for a candidate.  Again a politicians stance on the issues can make or break the election.  If there are many things going on with the country the election could get really close in votes.  If there’s not really much happening with politics (there’s alway something happening) then it maybe harder for someone to find a particular candidate to vote for.

Seniors have their own opinions why voting is important, and why they think people should register to vote.  Seniors should definitely register to vote because it gives them their first chance to actually have their voice heard in America.  Though a vote for a presidential candidate may seem small, it is actually bigger than some may think.  One person’s vote could decide how the world will be run in the future.

All in all, registering to vote during senior year is a very important opportunity.
