CONGRATULATIONS to Julia Mansur, Ariadna Leyva, and Miraya Gerardo for qualifying as state finalists in the Arkansas Young Playwright Competition with their original play Hello.  Finalists will have their play staged at the competition on April 14, 2018 at the Ron Robinson Theater in Little Rock.

 

CONGRATULATIONS to Searcy’s Poetry Out Loud Champion Vannah Brown and our runner up Emily Porter.  The Champion will perform at the Arkansas Poetry Out Loud Competition on Sat. Mar. 3, 2018 in the Center for Humanities and Arts Theater at Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock.

 

JOSTENS RING DELIVERY:  Jostens Representative will be on campus December 13 to deliver rings.  He will be set up in room 307 (English computer lab) during both lunch periods.

DAVE FERGURSON SCHOLARSHIP: High School Seniors who have at least a 2.5 GPA may apply for the Dave Ferguson Scholarship.  The scholarship requires students to write an essay identifying the watershed that the student’s district lies in, an overview of activities that can be implemented to protect the watershed, how the conservation district can help landowners address the resource concern that results from degradation to the watershed……as well as other topics.

Interested students can pick up an information sheet and entry form in the Guidance Center

 

EAST DAY OUT: EAST will host its annual EAST Day Out on Saturday, December 9, from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the SHS cafeteria. EAST students will demonstrate the cool technology they use to solve community problems and present their current projects. EAST and Computer Science students will also facilitate an Hour of Code to celebrate Computer Science Education Week. There will be door prizes, refreshments, 3D printing, games, storytelling, and more!

 

REMINDER TO ALL STUDENTS:  If you have changed residences this semester, come by either office and report that change of address.

 

9th GRADE PEP RALLY: There will be a 9th Grade Christmas Pep Rally Dec 11th.
