Third graders rock at violin recital

Third graders played violin and sang at Westside Elementary recently for parents and families.

Pam Frazier music teacher said there are about 125 kids preforming.

“There are five classes and there are about 25 in each one,” Frazier said.

Frazier added all the kids that preformed that night worked very hard.

“They started practicing violin in the beginning of second grade, so they had two years of violin to get to where they are now,” she said.

It takes a long time to get ready to perform

“I usually give to about six to eight weeks to actually start learning the songs they are going to play and sing, but if I give them any longer they are going to start to get bored,” Frazier said.

They are given many weeks to learn and practice their parts before the concert.

Christina Langlais said she was surprised at how well the concert went.

“I thought the concert was very good and I’m proud that my daughter was apart of it,” Langlais said.

Patty Lawson, parent of one of the children also was pleased.

“I thought it went very well they were very prepared and enjoyed watching them play their violins and loved hearing them sing,” Lawson said.

Even though the concert was a success many of the children were nervous before preforming in front of the audience.

“I was very nervous because I had to sing and play violin in front of my friends and that huge audience.” Regan Langlais said.

All in all, according to many people, the concert went very well and all of the kids did a great job.
