Searcy Lions take football opener against North Pulaski

The Searcy Lions football team kicked off their season this year with a 41-13 tromping of the North Pulaski Falcons.

The Lions, who received the ball first, scored in the first minute thanks to a rushing touchdown by junior Markel Harris, and they never looked back.  The Lions dominated both sides of the ball, and they went in at halftime with a 28-0 lead.

They didn’t slow down in the second half, going on to win 41-7.  Senior quarterback Dezmond Stegall completed 6 of 12 passes for 254 yards and 4 touchdowns.  Junior Camdon Woodruff also contributed two touchdowns- one receiving and one rushing.

On defense, seniors Chase Caple and Mason Guthrie led the team in tackles, and Jared Eades notched an interception.  The Lions look to continue their early season success throughout the year through a strong core of seniors and a mix of young talent as well.
