Lion Fest excites fans for football season

Lion Fest  gets better every year, according to  parent volunteer Angie Stevens.  The 3rd annual Lion Fest was held Tuesday, Aug, 21.

“When Coach Harper first came to Searcy High, he started Lion Fest as a way to bring the community in and get them excited about athletics, in general, especially the football team,” Stevens said. “So the first year was very exciting and new, last year was great, and this year is going to be even better.

Many athletes and students attended Lion Fest to support the school. Many enjoyed the time with their old friends.
“It definitely gets you excited. You get to see all your friends, the band and all the athletes. It gets you pumped for the school year,” said sophomore Jared Hillestad.

The community and students are excited about this years’ football games.

“Last year was really awesome, that was my first year. But, it’s more exciting every year,”  Hillestad said. “You make more friends, and you get more involved in the school.”

Lion Fest has become a tradition in Searcy, each year this event changes, but the students always have a great time.

“We have a lot of things planned, a lot of things for the kids, and the great thing about it is it raises money for all the athletics throughout the junior high and high school. It’s really a neat event,” Stevens said.
