Crossfit offers a variety of workouts

If you’re looking for a way to work out, you might want to check out the new gym, right here in Searcy.

“The definition of crossfit is constantly varied, high intensity functional movements,” said Director Angie Dugger. “We were just looking for a way to get in shape, to lose weight, and came across crossfit and really liked the design of it.”

Crossfit is not just a way to work out, it’s also a way of living.

Trainer Auburn Valentine said, “Majority of the time we are doing it just to stay fit, obviously. But we like to tie in fitness, nutrition, making sure we stay healthy, and we want to just be healthy on a regular basis. We use what we use in the gym, and take it back home to use it daily.”

For the members of Crossfit, there are various workouts available.

“Cardio, rowing, running, power lifting, olympic lifting, gymnastics, you name it,” said Crossfit member David Fields. “When I was in high school, my football coach wanted me to try it, so I started watching videos online and stuff like that. I didn’t try it until February 7th of this year. I heard people talk about it at school and thought I’d come try it out.”

The workouts at Crossfit are very intense.

“We try and combine your strength, your cardio, your endurance, your agility, and try to mix it all into a 30 minute increment at max. It varies everyday,” said Valentine. “We like to use body weight. Along with weights and free weights as well. We like to have a variety of workouts on a daily basis.”

If Crossfit looks like something you’re interested in, it’s located on Hastings Ave.
