It’s flu season and you know what that means for studentsThis year, a variety of students attended the annual flu clinic to get their vaccination.
The flu clinic has been going on for four years and has really helped a lot of people.
“This was actually a mandate from Governor Beebe,” says nurse Becky Lamb. “He encourages all the schools to participate.”
Before the shots were given, there were many mixed emotions among the students.
“I really hate shots, so I was really nervous,” said sophomore Hannah Osborne. “I don’t like needles.”
“I’ve had them before. It’s not too bad,” counters junior Jonathan Sledge.
The clinic was especially successful this year and was popular with students trying to avoid getting the flu.
Since starting the flu clinic, absentee rates have dramatically reduced.
“Well, since this is our fourth year; they have looked back and talked to schools, school nurses, super intendants, and principals and have actually seen a reduction in absentee-ism,” explains Lamb. “We think it is effective in keeping kids well and keeping them from getting the flu.”
