Cassandra Clare makes her mark

IMG_9362Cassandra Clare is an author most widely known for her book series, The Mortal Instruments, which include the following: City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass, City of Fallen Angels, City of Lost souls, and City of Heavenly Fire.

The story for The Mortal Instruments is set in the streets of New York City and that is where you first meet Clary Fray and her goofy, video game obsessed best friend Simon.

Clary is an artistic, shy, and extremely caring (almost to her demise at times) New Yorker and Simon go out on the town where they meet the group of Shadowhunters that will change both of their lives forever.

The story starts there and then spirals with romance, action, and dramatic twists that you won’t see coming.

My personal favorite part of Cassandra’s books is the breathtaking love stories she can make; it is everything that a hopeless romantic like me is looking for.

The Shadowhunter world that Clare has created has enthralled so many people, that a movie for City of Bones is set to premiere August 23, 2013.

The soundtrack for the movie will hit stores and iTunes on August 20th, just a few days before the movie premieres.

Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower star in the movie as Clary Fray and Jace Wayland and I am interested to see how they portray the characters.

City of Heavenly Fire, the sixth and final book in the Mortal Instruments series has many suggested release dates but we should be able to read the final installment in this saga sometime in 2014.

These books sold so well that Clare created a prequel series, The Infernal Devices.

Clockwork Angel, Clockwork Prince, and Clockwork Princess are the back story to the Mortal Instruments series.

These books are filled with the adventures had by the ancestors of the characters in the Mortal Instruments, including Tessa, Will Herondale, the Lightwood brothers, Jem Carstairs, and others.

They all fight evil and fall in love at the institute in London, England in the 1800s, and set up each oddity that confuses readers in the Mortal Instruments series.

Clockwork Princess, the third and final book in the saga, was released March 19, 2013.

After chasing through three different book stores to find it and then reading for three days straight I finished the first set in my favorite series, and for the next week I was depressed that it was over.IMG_9365

Yet the book was a wonderful ending because it gave all the fans the excitement of explaining little things from the Mortal Instruments series that we did not completely understand, so all in all I was impressed.

Although the Infernal Devices has come to an end and the Mortal Instruments will soon be finished, Clare has begun working on a new series set in Los Angeles just a few years after the events of the Mortal Instruments, called the Dark Artifacts.

The Dark Artifacts has no official date to be released, all we know is that we should look forward to perhaps reading this new series in 2015.

The working title for the first book of the Dark Artifacts series is Lady Midnight and stars the descendants of the previous characters in Clare’s other books.

I love to visit the world Cassandra creates and share the obsession with my friends, so I am thrilled that it is doing so well and is not set to end any time soon.
