Although the games did not go as planned, softball recognizes their mistakes and tries to improve on their errors.

“Our last game was pretty rough; We got beat pretty bad,” said junior Mecayla Ramer.

Coach Long said the first thing that needs to be worked on is mental mistakes.

“Mental mistakes lead to errors. For example, last game we had six errors, and they had six runs. We have to clean up the errors on defense first,” said Long.

Recovering from a game can be both burdensome and nostalgic.

The athletes on the softball and baseball team remember past games in their athletic careers as they prepare themselves to say goodbye to the seniors and the season.

Jordan Jones explains that his favorite game was actually during the football season.

“Matthew came in, he was new from Catholic, and he didn’t know anything. He wasn’t too terrible, but we helped him,” said Jones.

Deion Byrd’s most memorable game was against Little Rock Central.

“We were down by two runs, and we ended up scoring the winning run in the bottom of the inning,” said Byrd.

As for softball, Ramer has her own favorite game.

“My favorite game was when we won the state championship because it was the first time softball for Searcy has ever won state and it was really nice to be a part of it,” Ramer explained.

Practicing harder and becoming closer as a team comes through in certain sports, especially in baseball and softball.

“You always need people to guide you and to help you in life. Baseball is a game of experience and helping,” said Byrd.

He believes that what is learned in baseball can be applied to life outside of sports.

Ramer feels that working with others plays a very important role in being on the softball team.

“Playing softball is how to depend on others when you’re down and to trust your team to bring you up,” she said.

Supporting and encouraging your teammates can make all the difference in whether you win or lose a game.

Baseball tries to encourage their team by expressing praise to their players.

“Just offer people to be more like Matthew Parsley; He’s the best,” said Jones.

Parsley, on the other hand, feels the opposite.

“Make sure you’re like Jordan Jones,” said Parsley.

The baseball and softball players act like a family because they are all so close.
