The Searcy lion soccer teams played their last home games this week. For the seniors, it was a bittersweet night filled with emotion.
“Knowing that I won’t ever play at Searcy again, I will play at college, but it’s different because nothing is the same as playing at Searcy, being a lion,” said senior McKenna Smith.
“It hasn’t really hit me yet that this is my last game on this field. I’m pretty sure it will later tonight,” said senior Kenneth Wilson. “It’s been a great four years and I know I’m going to miss it.”
The seniors have different things they will miss with graduating.
“I’ll miss playing with all these girls the most because I’ve played with them since I was ten,” said Smith.
“Having fun, playing the game that I love with all my friends that I grew up with,” said Wilson.
The seniors have high expectations for next year’s soccer teams.
“I think the team will do pretty well, because there are a lot of eighth graders coming up,” said Smith.
Wilson said that with such a big graduating class, the team will lose a lot of talent.
“But then again, we have a lot of young raw talent that I think will make up for it next year; they know what they are supposed to do so we will have a good year next year,” said Wilson.
Even though this is the last game of the regular season, the seniors will continue to play throughout the playoffs.
