The Searcy football team hosted their first home game against their rivals, the Batesville Pioneers.
“Overall I’d say it was a pretty good experience even though our team lost, but I think that they played their hearts out, but we just need to improve,” said junior Connor Ford.
Although Searcy gave it their all, the score board did not turn out the way that they had planned.
“I know one thing that we played four hard quarters, and I was very proud of the way that the guys stood in there and kept plugging away no matter what the circumstance was. We were very proud of that,” said coach Tyler Dorton.
Dorton believes that the score was result of performance error.
“I thought that the game plan was decent, we just have to get better at doing what we do,” said Dorton.
Searcy came out roaring in the first half, the second half told a different story.
“We came out really strong in the first half we were just scoring and scoring on Batesville and everyone was cheering and it was all good, but then the second half some things happened, I feel like, with our defense; we got scored on a lot,” said Ford.
Although the lions came up short of victory, they still displayed excellent lion spirit and sportsmanship.
The Lions have put this game behind them and are now focused on the rest of the season.
