Cubs win first game against Jonesboro

DSCF0401With the first home game over, cubs have set up the season. Winning their first game, the cubs showed great potential for the season. They played the Jonesboro Annie Camp Whirlwinds. The score was 8 to 6. They scored the majority of the points in the second half of the game. The cubs played hard and stuck with it through the whole game.

“We gave it our best and did what we needed to do,” said freshman Jase Woods.

The coaches thought that the ninth grade cubs put forth their best effort in the game, and that was the reason why they won.

“I thought they played really hard,” said coach Bronco King. “They showed a great effort.”

The players though have worked hard to get ready for the game. Each player has a different way to get ready for the game, but all these methods help them focus on the game.

“I think about what I need to do to contribute and help the team out before the game,” said Woods.

Even though they succeeded  in the game, the players are always wanting to improve how they play individually and as a team. The players though want to better their executions for the upcoming games, so that they will be the best they can be.

“There is always things we can improve on and our execution will get better every week,” said Woods.

All in all, the coaches believe that the team succeeded, but that they could improve on some things. One of those things would be their control of the ball.

“They could have controlled the ball more on offense,” said King.

With a great team, it is hard to stick out on the team. but quarterback Jase Woods does. He has worked hard to get to this point in his football career and does his best on the field.

“I thought I did what I needed to to get the win and that is what matters,” said Woods.DSCF0412The team really impressed the Coaches in the game because of their will to win and how they never gave up. The Coaches believe this is what will lead to the success of the season.

“Overall I thought they never gave up for the four quarters,” said King.

The hard practices and dedication to the workouts are to blame for how great the boys played at the game. This helps the boys being at the top of their game the whole game.

“They train by doing a lot of reps in practice of various exercises,” said King.

With such a great start to the season, the junior cubs expects a winning season.
