Get Down Downtown is a chance for the people of Searcy to gather together as a community to have a good time.
They have various booths, shows, and good food to eat.
The people who worked the various booths at the event wether for churches, companies or just to advocate their products, different members of the community got together and made booths for the Searcy residents to enjoy.
“I love having a booth downtown because it’s nice to get to meet people in the town and promote business,” said hair stylist, Carlie Lay.
The event offers good food, rock climbing, various old cars, and cold drinks to cool people off from the hot October weather.
“The food and friends are wonderful, but the heat is always a pain,” said Lay.
Everybody came together and had a good time, going from booth to booth.
“It’s a great place to meet people and have fun,” said Lay.
The dance team, students from the high school, and other teams performed at Get Down Downtown. The other performances, such as Billy Dean, and many other local dance and singing groups drew a crowd to the event.
“The live music was a great feature,” said Sarah Parsons. “It’s great to see the city of Searcy coming together to support it’s local businesses and help the community grow. It’s what makes Searcy a great little town.”
Many people were excited to get a chance to perform on the same stage as Billy Dean.
“Our performance went really good,” said junior Elizabeth Taylor, “we got a lot of crowd interaction and we placed third.”
Performing gave a chance for different singers, dancers, and other performers from Searcy to display their talents.
“It was a really good turn out. Overall, it was a good experience,” said Taylor.
The people who attended the event had many choices of how they could spend their time, from watching a show, to tossing balls for bunnies, to looking at antique cars. Everyone had a great time trying out the different booths.
“I had a great time. I especially liked that they had things that my whole family could enjoy,” said Yolanda Harrison.
Others enjoyed the different performances that went on. Billy Dean was a favorite.
“It was a lot of fun,” said Janet Decker, “We really enjoyed Billy Dean.”
Some people even danced and singed alongside to the different performances.
“We danced on the side walk with friends and sang our heart out. It was a blast,” said Decker.
Get Down Down town is also a popular place for people to meet up with friends and enjoy each other’s company while listening to great performances and eating slushes and favorite fried foods.
“We had fun meeting up with our friends and listening to some music,” said Sharon Westoff.
Get Down Downtown is especially fun for Searcy in particular because people from eight to eighty get to join in on the fun.
“Get Down Downtown is a lot of fun for all ages. My kids loved the games and slides and face painting,” said Parsons.
Overall, Get Down Downtown is a great way for Searcy to come together as a community and have a great time.
It provides fun for all ages and always attracts a crowd, while providing businesses a way to get their names out there.
