Lions welcome transfer student as quarterback

DSC_0911Searcy has attracted a lot of new faces this school year, including the football team’s new quarterback.

Senior Christian Reynolds transferred from Rose Bud High School to play football at a larger school and get better exposure for university play.

“I focus on one play at a time,” Reynolds said. “The rush I get from being in the game is unexplainable. I actually imagine the song ‘Undead’ by Hollywood Undead and it gets me in a zone where its just me and the ball. Tim Tebow, I would have to give credit for being the athlete that inspires me to play and go for my goal.”

Reynolds’ goal is playing college football when he finishes high school.

“There is never one great player but a great team and that helps motivate certain players to stand out,” he stated. “I wouldn’t say I’m great but I believe I’m close because I have something to play for. In my case, I give all my glory to The Lord.”

He believes that this is to help him stand out, or in this case, be that ‘certain’ player.

Moving to Searcy has provided Reynolds with an awesome atmosphere and learning experience. Reynolds is really into the game every second feeling a rush by blocking everyone else out but him and the ball.

Coach Tyler Dorton explains just how Reynolds has become accustomed to the football team.

“We expect all of our players to go far in everything they pursue. Reynolds is just a great student of the game. He is doing everything he needs to be so as long he keeps it up everything will be fine,” he explained.

All of the football coaches agree that Reynolds shows leadership when in practice and the games.

“Reynolds attitude towards the game is unexplainable. He is focused and shows he wants to win,” says Coach Dorton.

Reynolds has been a great addition to the team and I cant wait to see where his dreams take him.

Not only does the coaches see Reynolds potential but also his teammates do.

“Reynolds always pays attention, runs the plays, and when he messes up he finds a way to fix it. In 4 words, I would describe him great, caring, kind and smart,” said junior Shaq Glass.
