As many people know, October is breast cancer awareness month. Last week the volleyball team had a pink-out game to raise money and awareness.
“Tonight is the volleyball pink-out game and they are raising awareness for breast cancer,” said senior Morgan Stanley.
One major nationwide fundraiser for breast cancer is the Susan G. Komen foundation.
“Shirts that we are selling the money goes to the Susan G. Komen foundation,” said junior Katey Carnitz. “All the money to pay to get in also goes to the Susan G. Komen foundation.”
Many of the players were excited about being able to host the game for such a great cause.
“I feel really good about tonight because we get to raise awareness for breast cancer, and everyone coming out here and supporting us,” said sophomore Mariah Milon.
“We had a really big turnout tonight and it feels rally good to have all these people come and support us and support the foundation and to raise all this money that goes to them,” said Carnitz.
October means different things to different for everyone but one student in particular shares her feelings for this month.
“The month of October is very dear to my heart because my mom had breast cancer and she’s actually a survior, so I love the opportunity to work when they have pink out games and raise awareness for breast cancer,” said Stanley.
All the money raised through the game went to research for breast cancer.
