The Lions were victorious against Nettleton with the boys winning 64-55, and the girls piling the up the score, 50-39.
“Even though it was a non-conference and it didn’t mean something to the season, but it meant something to us,” said sophomore Jessica Mitchell.”This game put motivation in our heads and inspired us to more great wins.”
Senior Karonce Higgins said both teams were really into the game and made a great amount of effort to win.
“I couldn’t have been more pleased, we tried our hardest and that’s what counts,” said Higgins.
Kamryn Burton, sophomore, said efforts were rewarded with a great win.
“This was a tough game,” said Burton. “As you can tell by the scores we had a tough match.”
Freshman Hope Walker credited the coaches with getting the teams ready for the games.
“The coaches have done an excellent job coaching and getting us pumped for the season,” said Walker.
Sophomore Abigail Hollman said Nettleton was an excellent match for the team and gave them a great deal of competition.
“I feel like the boys and girls teams took this game so serious, it obviously showed in their plays and the score,” said Hollman.
Mitchell said Searcy basketball is like being in a family.
“Our team is a team, but really a family, we practice together, work together, and ride the bus together,” Mitchell said.
Burton said both teams have come a long way in practicing and she loves playing the games.
“Being apart of a team is way more fun than being on the sideline,” said Burton.
