Valley Baptist Church hosted the annual Disciple Now, which is also known as D-Now.

D-Now is a revival for busy Christian students to take time out of their overbooked schedules to refocus on God and hang out with friends.

It allowed them to think about their lives and the direction that they are going in to keep on the path or redirect their life back to the path with God.

This year’s theme was All Access with the motto to trade “all-self for all-access to God” which means the students can have all the access they want to God, instead of focusing on themselves and worldly things.

“D-Now is where the youth in the community come together for a weekend to worship God and have fun altogether,” said sophomore Zach Powell.

Over the weekend, they do different things every night: one night they watch a skit, another they have small group sessions. They also have a speaker and a band on the last night to deliver the main message.

“At D-Now, you get there on Thursday night and you eat dinner and then watch a play,” said freshman Abigail Holloman. “After school on Friday you get there and get there and get to your host home with your small group leader. Saturday you have worship mostly all day.”

Students loved D-Now because it brought them closer in all their relationships with not only God but with their friends. They grow relationships with their friends through small group which is when they break into groups with only a few people in it and they talk about whatever they need to.

“My favorite part this year of D-Now would be getting to grow closer to the Lord and the girls in my small group,” said freshman Kayla Churchwell.

The speaker this year was James Dickens with the worship band being Cloverton. Dickens and Cloverton impressed the kids with the messages they were getting across to everyone that heard.

The music and message really changed how the students view things in their life.

“It made me realize that it is okay to stand out for a good cause,” said Churchwell.

Dickens’ message this year was to live for God and be the best Christian a person can be by trying to do the best all the time.

“D-Now changed me to learn how the Lord is not just sitting up there,” said Holloman. “He is here to guide me; I also learned that I don’t need to hide my faith from anyone.”

With D-Now over for the year, the students that went this year are already looking forward to and inviting friends for the D-Now next year.

“I think this years sessions were the best sessions so far. I think the speaker influenced us and connected with us well,” said freshman Peyton Deason. “I also think that the sessions connected the group closer together.”
